CareCentric Releases Version 2.0 of Its Ac-Cura HME Software
New release launches at Medtrade Spring trade show
ATLANTA (April 23, 2007)—CareCentric ® Inc., the leading provider of technology, business-operation and outsourcing solutions for the post-acute care industry—home health, home medical equipment and long-term care—will debut its newest version of Ac-Cura ® HME, release 2.0, this week at Medtrade Spring in Las Vegas, booth #1230.
“The Ac-Cura HME V2.0 release represents the next major milestone in the company’s vision of providing the premier multi-line of business platform,” said John Festa, CareCentric CEO and president.
Built on the Microsoft ® .NET platform, Ac-Cura is an integral part of a total CareCentric solution that includes long-proven, industry-leading financial and clinical software; total billing services provided by its employees on its own software; information technology outsourcing that includes application hosting, telecommunication management, backup and recovery, and help desk; business process outsourcing of all back-office administrative functions; and a full range of educational and consulting services.

The 2.0 release adds HME-specific business functionality as well as various improvements to the features and functionality contained in the 1.2 release. These include:
- Regulatory updates—includes the new CMS 1500 and UB04 billing forms, CMNs and DIF forms, and NPI integration for paper and electronic claims submission, as well as various utilities to support these features.
- Enhanced role-based security—allows user access to patient data to be defined by branch, region and/or line of business
- Pricing enhancements—allows pricing to be set as a percentage of another price contract such as Medicare-allowed amounts
- Order entry enhancements—provides the ability to add patients and associated payers, physicians and ICD-9 codes “on the fly” during the order entry process
- Commercial billing—allows for billing a commercial entity such as a nursing home or hospice organization for goods and services through a specialized customer account type
- Capitation billing—allows billing to a commercial entity on a per patient basis while tracking complete individual patient order information
- Open bills editor enhancements—allows modification of critical claim information such as physician, HCPC and modifiers, ICD-9s, authorization numbers, quantities, and billed and allowed amounts
- Purchase orders—allows for the creation of a basic purchase order by inventory location and vendor, and includes automatic PO generation for reorders and stock maintenance
- Inventory transfer orders—allows batch transfer orders to be created for moving inventory between locations while preserving serialized inventory asset history
- Point of sale—integrates cash sale order with NCR POS terminal that includes touch screen, cash sale receipt printing capability and scanner
CareCentric is working on future releases of its Ac-Cura software with input from advisory boards comprised of key customers who represent a variety of operational and management needs. Additional enhanced versions of the HME software will be released throughout the year. In addition, the much-anticipated 2.0 release of the company’s home health and point-of-care applications will be available for customers in early June 2007. That release includes major new functionality, including care plans, flow sheets, medication alerts and a completely re-designed scheduling application.
