Frequently Asked Questions

CareCentric®

Q:  How long have you been in business?

A:  We have been in business for more than 40 years.

Q:  What is a "line of business"?

A:   Line of business (LOB) is a general term we use to refer to a set of one or more highly related products which service a particular customer need. For example, Pharmacy Infusion refers to businesses which supply medications that must be administered intravenously as well as all the equipment and services needed to administer the drug in the home. Another line of business would be Private Duty Nursing.

Q:  Isn’t your main line of business HME?

A:  We got our start in the homecare industry through the HME line of business. However, we are now a healthcare solutions company, and we are providing solutions through the use of software and services across the continuum of care in a health network community. This includes a long, rich history in the Home Health side of the business.

Q:  What is Cloud computing and do you offer it?

A:  Cloud computing involves any subscription-based or pay-per-use service in which shared resources, software and information are provided over the internet to computers and other devices on demand.  It extends a customer's existing IT capabilities without requiring an investment in new infrastructure, personnel or software.  Simply put, you choose the services you need and you pay for what you use.  At CareCentric, we do provide hosting services in this manner as well as through more traditional methods.

Caretinuum®

Q:  What is Caretinuum?

A:  Caretinuum is a software application designed to support single or multiple lines of business within the homecare industry. Whether your company provides Home Health, Infusion, Home Medical Equipment or some combination of these, Caretinuum can support you from referral to collection of payment.

Q:  Do you have an ad hoc report writer?

A:  Yes, Caretinuum feeds a separate reporting database with normalized data that is ready for reporting and analysis. Caretinuum's Report Manager is a robust desktop reporting system that contains many standard reports as well as a report builder that allows users to create their own reports.

Q:  Do you still have the STAT2 application?

A:  As of December 31, 2010, we will no longer be supporting or maintaining the STAT2 application.  However, Caretinuum is a very strong tool for Home Health agencies today due, in part, to the strong feature/function richness that the STAT2 application passed on to this new tool.

Q:  What makes your clinical system different from the clinical systems of other vendors?

A:  Within Caretinuum, we offer customized assessments and care plans that are linked to those assessments. No other vendor gives an agency the ability to build its own assessments and have its care plans created dynamically as those assessments are being built by using links between the answers to assessment questions and the agency's own clinical pathways or care plans.

Q:  What do you mean by patient-centric solutions?

A:  Our solutions are designed to keep the patient central to all the services and documentation. For example, if one company is providing nursing services as well as medical equipment to a patient, the information pertaining to the equipment's delivery date is readily available in Caretinuum to the nurse who will be visiting that patient. This allows the nurse to schedule the visit based on when the equipment will be present and available. Another example would be if a patient has both a Private Duty nurse and a Hospice nurse, both can document details about the patient in the application and coordinate medications because medications are documented at the patient level and not the discipline level.

Q:  Which CAHPS vendors do you work with for the surveys?

A:  Deyta™, SHP®, Press Ganey®, Fazzi Associates, The Jackson Group, HealthStream®, NRC Picker™ and OCS (Press Ganey file format) are our preferred providers.

Q:  How many products do you have?

A:   We are actively selling one product: Caretinuum. We are also still supporting and maintaining our legacy MestaMed® and PharmMed® products.

Q:  How do you support Caretinuum?

A:  We support Caretinuum with an implementation team (initially) and an Account Manager as well as through access to a well-trained product support helpdesk, an online knowledge base and many product training options. There are also consulting and technology services available to all our customers.

Q:  What makes your system different from the systems of other vendors?

A:  Caretinuum is an integrated, modular and scalable software application that, along with many supporting services, creates a total solution for providers in the homecare industry.  In addition, we are a company that does not seek just another customer. Instead, we seek partners in providing quality health care in the most cost-efficient setting: The home.

Q:  Can I interface with my payroll and G/L systems?

A:  Caretinuum interfaces to ADP® and Paycheck for payroll and Great Plains®, MAS90, Peachtree and Quickbooks® for G/L.
